Situation: In my previous role as a Data Governance Specialist at XYZ corporation, I was assigned to design and implement data governance policies and procedures across multiple departments in a large organization.
Task: My primary tasks were to identify data owners, define data policies, establish procedures for data entry, storage, and retrieval, and create a data quality assurance program while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Action: I started by conducting interviews and workshops with department managers and subject matter experts to understand their data-related workflows and needs. I also reviewed existing policies and procedures to identify gaps and areas for improvement. Based on this, I developed an enterprise-wide data governance framework that included roles and responsibilities, policies, procedures, and standards. I collaborated with IT and information security teams to ensure that data governance policies and procedures were aligned with the organization's overall security framework.
Result: As a result of the data governance program, we were able to improve data quality, reduce risk, and improve efficiency. We were able to identify and address data-related issues proactively, resulting in a significant reduction in data-related incidents.
